The Dora Explorer

Peyton is learning about transportation at school and is having a Spring picnic where the kids are having a car parade. They were to bring cardboard cards for the parade. We attempted to put something together when John was off and it came together pretty well. It was fun to make and super easy and would make a great rainy day activity for toddlers. Peyton loved making it and wearing it around and we are looking forward to the parade and picnic tonight!

I was featured on Creative Parties and Showers!!!!

As you can tell, I have been in a blogging slump lately. Partly because I have been sick and also because I feel like nothing exciting has been going on.

Anyways....remember that Canada Day party (which by the way will be even bigger and better in 2010 given the amount of Canada gear I picked up this summer on our trip)...well, I submitted it to Creative Parties and Showers, an amazing website with tons of great ideas and awesome parties. I honestly didn't think it would be featured since it was my first party to submit but guess what.......IT WAS FEATURED TODAY! So Cool! Check it out here!

Definitely a way to kick you out of your blogging slump and help you smile when you are checking email at 4 AM because your munchkin won't sleep.

Stay tuned for details on Peyton's first birthday party coming soon....

Bows

If you remember my post about starting to make Peyton some bows...well, I have tackled it and am starting to really enjoy it. I found the BEST website to help that gives you step by step instructions and pictures for all kinds of bows...check it out here. I have made several bows so far and it is getting easier and easier. They are in no way professional looking but they are good enough to help compliment outfits and a whole lot cheaper! I will still probably buy some bows for special outfits and occasions but these work great for every day wear. I even got some elastic lace to make some additional bow bands.

Here is what I have made so far...

Time to get crafty

The other day I went out and bought Peyton some bows. I have been wanting to make her more girly but just didn't make the effort to go out and buy any bows. Well, when I saw that they were around $5.50-6.00 and up a bow, I realized why I didn't do this before. Either way...I wanted one for Easter/Spring and then one for her St. Patty's Day play date today. This is what I bought....the green one is just a green bow that I added a button on.

So, later that day as we were doing errands I realized...it can't be that hard to make your own bows. I came to that realization conveniently enough while I was at Hobby Lobby. I got some ribbon and barrettes there and then more supplies at Michaels later and found random ribbon around our house from wedding crafts and now have an abundance of ribbon, alligator clips, barrettes, glue and fray check and several websites with instructions.

Stay tuned to see how crafty I can hopefully be...otherwise we will be stuck paying $6 for a bow or Peyton will continue to be bow-less.
