Where is the snow?

I woke up this morning and kind of like I expected...NO SNOW! I was trying to be optimistic all day yesterday (especially since they canceled Peyton's school and at 2:00 PM it was just cold with no sign of wintry weather) but when I was up at 1:00 AM not able to sleep and there was no sign of precipitation I lost hope. Sure enough it is just cold and icy and no sign of snow. I really wanted Peyton to see snow and if we were going to have her school canceled yesterday and then gymnastics canceled today...I wanted snow! But at least Daddy is home today (and doesn't have to go in tomorrow like we expected) which is always a blessing!

Since Peyton didn't have school yesterday we were just going to drop off something at my parents and then go run a couple of errands together and instead she went to Chucke Cheese with Papa and I got to run my errands alone with my mom! Apparently Peyton and Papa had a blast doing all the different games/rides/balls etc. She hasn't been in a long time (because she only goes with Papa and Granny...when she asks me I tell her it is just a place that Papa's and Granny's can go and Mommy's aren't allowed) but she remembered right away and had a good time.

I went to Barnes and Noble and picked up a Nook! We had gift cards from Christmas that allowed us to significantly drop the price of the Nook and the cover and I am excited about having tons to read at my upcoming doctor's appointments! And although I have been hesitant to give up holding my paper books and feeling the real book feeling but when I saw how much more discounted Nook ebooks are compared to regular books...that feeling passed! Since I do love to read so much and typically read through a book pretty fast it gets expensive if I was to always be reading through a book. So, in the past I read through a good book and then wait awhile until I have some extra cash to pick up another book. The nook ebook prices allow me to get 2-3 books for the price of one and I am waiting for my sister to lend me a book she bought which makes it even better...free! I got the Nook all charged up and set up yesterday and am just having a hard time deciding which book to start off with and after creating my Wishlist online all day yesterday......which I love this feature because I am also reading about books people recommend in a magazine or online etc and always forgot to keep a good list of books I wanted to read. Now I can look for them, save them in my wish list and then just purchase off of that list!

Here is what is on my list so far....

Unbroken by Lauren Hillenbrand
The Memory Place by Mira Bartok
The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown
Cinderella Ate My Daughter by Peggy Orenstein
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
My sister has Water for Elephants so I am waiting on her to lend it to me but I am thinking about starting Unbroken if I don't get it from her soon. I am itching to start reading something!

We spent the rest of the day hanging out with Granny and Papa and had our naps there and everything and stayed for a wonderful taco dinner! We then played and acted goofy and after awhile Peyton was getting sleeping and decided she had enough!
This was taken after we told her she needed to stop trying to cover the dog with the blanket/scarf. She didn't like that suggestion. Her dress up clothes just make her look so much dramatic! Overall we had a great day hanging out at Granny and Papa's all day and it made the day waiting for the snow (that crippled Houston) that never came!
We have a busy weekend with a Valentine Making Party at the church tomorrow morning and then I have my baby shower! I am so excited to celebrate Graham with friends and family!
I hear Peyton waking up so off we go to start snow day number 2....I am liking this whole her sleeping in and me being up at least 30-45 minutes before her. However, she normally wakes up at 7:00 AM which means I need to get better about waking up at 6:00 AM...ugh! Maybe after Graham comes and I am forced to be up!

I think you will love your Nook. Nick and I have talked about getting that or a Kindle... what made you pick the Nook?

Stori...I did a bunch of research and the couple of things that made us go with the Nook is that it is backlight making it easier to read in the dark, it has a replacable battery if you need to as opposed to the Kindle which you would have to send away, the Nook allows you to read ePub books from your library, and mostly we are thinking that if this is something that both of us love using we would go ahead and buy another Nook and go with the color Nook the second time to support Children's books and then the second Nook would be able to be on the same account and can have the same books etc on both Nooks. I am sure there was more reasons but those are the ones that jump out to me. Also, I had lots of positive feedback from different people on the Nook.

Now...I would check more into the Kindle vs Nook for international use. From my understanding you can use the Nook internationally but the only way to add new books to your account is to have someone in the USA, log in, buy the book for you and then you have to use the USB connection to download the book. Not a big deal as long as you have family willing to do that for you whenever. The Kindle 3G apparently will allow you to access your account in over 100 countries via wireless but when you pull up the coverage map it was dismal even in Canada. I am not exactly sure how the Kindle works internationally because I stopped looking into it but it might be something to consider.

Thanks!!! Its nice to have a recommendation from someone who has researched it so I can focus my energies on something else. I will check into both for international use a little more closely, but the Nook sounds great!
